Yesterday at Te Manawa, we met a man named Warren. He taught us about Maori weapons. He used shark teeth for the drill.
He had a bird trap and the Maori put berries in it and then the bird would eat them and it would get stuck.
He even had a black cloak. If the chief was going to get into a fight, he would get his black cloak on and sneak up behind the enemy, camouflaged, and his enemy wouldn’t see him and kill him.
They used flax to make their bags and traps.
Sometimes they ate the moa eggs and used the shells as drink bottles.
They used water on sandstone to sharpen their stone so it wouldn’t get all bumpy.
That is why they had the sandstone for that job. That stone was heavy and had lots of dust on it. They had greenstone to make their tools as well.
